The Vortex Strike Eagle 1-8×24 FFP 30mm EBR-8

If you are the owner of the AR15 rifle, you will probably consider buying an LPVO (Low Power Variable Optics) scope – optics with low, variable magnification. Unlike a traditional rifle scope, the magnification range starts with the real 1x and usually ends with the maximum magnification of 10x. LPVO riflescopes are mainly used on AR-15 rifles and hunting weapons, because they allow for dynamic and accurate shooting at a short distance, as well as precise firing at medium and longer distances. The greatest advantage of the Vortex Strike Eagle 1-8×24 FFP sight is, of course, its versatility (compared to a collimator and a holographic sight), which is why running scopes are commonly used by sport shooters, law enforcement and hunters.

The Vortex Strike Eagle 1-8×24 FFP tube is made of one piece of 6061-T6 aircraft aluminum, thus ensuring resistance to recoil, corrosion and mechanical damage. The anodized tube has a highly durable anti-reflective finish that is scratch and abrasion resistant. Precise sealing and argon filling of the optics, completely eliminates the problem of internal fogging of the lenses and provides IPX7 protection: against rain, snow and immersion in water.

Strike Eagle 1-8x24 FFP

The Vortex Strike Eagle 1-8×24 sfp tube with a diameter of 30 mm provides a wide range of vertical and horizontal adjustment (145 MOA) allowing for shooting at a distance of up to 595 m. On the outer lenses there is a hard and durable ArmorTek coating that protects against scratches, dirt, moisture and oils. The solid construction makes this rifle scope safe to use in all weather conditions, without fear of damage to the optics. A practical switchview throw lever is attached to the eyepiece, which allows you to quickly change the magnification between shots.

Vortex Strike Eagle 1-8×24 FFP uses XD glass lenses with a low dispersion coefficient, which results in excellent resolution and contrast. Another advantage of the glass used is its relatively low density, which makes the optics lighter. The parameter that distinguishes the Strike Eagle from the market competition is the high light transmission, which affects the brightness of the image even in unfavorable lighting conditions.

Multilayer anti-reflective coatings were applied on all air-to-glass surfaces. As a result, the image is bright, edge-to-edge sharp, high resolution, faithful in color and even at full 8 × magnification, the target is clearly visible. The Vortex Strike Eagle 1-8×24 scope features an illuminated EBR-8 reticle in the foreground (first focal plane reticle). When you change the magnification, the FFP reticle expands or shrinks proportionally, making it easier to read and apply corrections when shooting at longer distances. The reticle etched by the laser on the glass guarantees the reliability and durability of the optics.

The center of the reticle (dot and open circle) has an 11-step brightness adjustment, allowing you to perfectly adjust the brightness to your needs. A large adjustment range enables comfortable work in all lighting conditions, also with the use of night vision (2 lowest brightness settings). The large distance of the exit pupil (99 mm) allows the shooter’s eyesight to remain relaxed, as entering the target does not have to adapt to the field of view. It also enables comfortable use of the scope by people using corrective lenses and protects against the recoil of large-caliber weapons. The illuminated sight with a real 1x magnification acts as a collimator sight, allowing for dynamic shooting at short distances.

The EBR-8 reticle takes into account the ballistics of the ammunition with calibers .223 Rem / .308 / 7.62, it can also be used for weapons of other calibers (applying corrections using the BDC scale). An additional upper scale allows you to quickly calculate the distance to the target. To adjust the reticle, there are capped, low-profile turrets that allow you to change settings also while wearing gloves. The turret click moves the reticle 1/4 MOA (7 mm / 100 m). The full range of reticle adjustment is 145 MOA vertically and horizontally.

Fixing the parallax at 125 yards allowed this scope to have an increased depth of field for better optical quality to further distances and decreased parallax error at longer ranges.

The Vortex Strike Eagle 1-8×24 FFP 30 mm is a versatile LPVO running scope that is perfect for dynamic target shooting, driven hunting and law enforcement applications.

    Outstanding Scope

This scope is great for beginners and season shooters alike. Great features that are commonly found in scopes with a much higher price tag. Easy to use and very simple for new users to learn how to use all the features. No need in my opinion to spend crazy money on a scope if all you are going to do is shoot at the range or go hunting from time to time. Very clear, accurate and versatile.

Great scope at a great price

I purchased the Strike Eagle 1-8×24 to mount on my IWI using the Vortex Sport cantilever mount. I’m just an average shooter that doesn’t get into the technical stuff when it comes to guns and optics. The most important thing to me is that when I look through my scope I can see my target clearly. The Strike Eagle’s glass has great clarity. And first focal plane makes seeing the reticle easier on my bad eyes when I take the longer shots. Rating at 4 stars only because I haven’t made it to the range with the Strike Eagle yet.

The only negative I have found is that the included flip caps are not the same quality as the Defender flip caps I have purchased for my other Vortex scopes (2 Diamondback Tactical 6-24×50 and a Crossfire II 1-4×24). The ocular cover fits loose and wants to slide off the scope when I try to open it. The objective cover has a weak spring that barely gets the cap out of the field of view when open.
